I mean, the real problem in Naples is not the garbage, it's the fact that the mafia put it's tentacle on the market of garbage treatment. Out of the garbage in the streets, they also have a real huge problem, the one of the garbage buried anywhere around the city... and we are only speaking of the garbage problem from the mafia, and not all the rest of the mafia activities.
The problem's not the lack of incinerators, its a) the Mafia, as mentioned above, b) the complete lack of recycling and c) people refusing to have incinerators and recycling plants near where they live.
i live here and I must add another point: d) Berlusconi
Maybe I can be more clear: our well known prime minister Berlusconi is clearly trying to interfer with our new mayor DeMagistris because we voted for him instead of Lettieri who was supported by Berlusconi himself. Totally unfair.
One more thing: we don't want incinerators near our homes, that's true, but theres a reason. Even if we differentiate the garbage, it's all mixed toghether again once it is picked up, I saw this with my own eyes, and when they'll incinerate that stuff it will produce tons of dioxine in the air we breathe. That's why we don't want that.
haha... stupid guy from Napoli has fallen for Mafia lies about incinerators. No one will feel bad for you. In America we manage our waste even with massive corruption. Some Romans you guys ended up to be. A bunch of babies and cowards.
^ apologies for the ignorant american a-hole above. every thread must have at least one, it seems. ^
re: naples garbage, the description of the situation seems to be about three years old. trash in the streets is no longer the problem, lack of incinerators is no longer the problem; it's the unhealthy situation of the incinerators which seems to be the current problem, as discussed in earlier posts.
i really wish there was someone who spoke english doing some fact-checking at izismile. most of the posts are either nonsensical or simply wrong in their presentation of facts.
@ the a-hole above: first of all in naples we fight against the camorra, not the mafia... moreover, we DO manage our waste: the problem is greater than it seems, since we managed for DECADES the waste/chemical waste/radioactive waste also coming from other countries such as Germany. And yes, the camorra keeps profits from that sh*t but also our government keeps profits from keeping the camorra alive. Before even speaking about naples, try to take some more info... and ... hopefully we don't need someone to be sad about us, I'm acting like most of the people here do. cheers
This would be a perfect solution to the garbage disposal problems the USA faces daily. All we need to do is package it up, ship it over to Europe, and dump it. Europe is pretty much of a shithole anyway - they'll never notice and the french artists can make pretty sculptures and others trinkets from it.
where is waste management when you need them

Win - Win!!
You know that most of garbage you throw out, you eat in fast food 'restaurants'?
