The first picture is actually promotional material for a 1932 film called Freaks. Koo Koo the Bird Girl (featured in another photo) was in that film. It's a seriously screwed up movie.
the picture of two women holding up a women who looks asleep is actually a picture taken right before the middle woman's funeral. Often families couldnt afford a photo of themselves during their lifetime so instead, a picture would be taken right after death. This made it so that families could have a picture to remember the person by and it saved them alot of money.
My parents had or have a book by Rudyard Kipling, which has a swastika on the front title page.
There was a hockey (?) team in Edmonton, Alberta that in 1917, was named the Swastikas. The symbol on their uniform was, naturally, a swastika.
