This is Dede Koswara, or the ‘Tree man’. Dede Koswara, 3, has a rare genetic disease similar to epidermodysplasia verruciformis causing the growth of scaly macules and papules, particularly on the hands and feet. In his case, almost all of his body was covered with warts that gave the impression of bark. On August 26, 2008, 6 kg (13 lb) of warts were removed during the surgery that Dede had in Indonesia. In all, 95% of the warts were removed. However, his warts have returned and it appears he will need two surgeries a year for the rest of his life to keep them at bay. He continues his treatment in Indonesia.
I'm so horrified for him. That is thee most uncomfortable thing I've ever seen in my lifetime...and I'm 48 years old. I'm sorry to say that is by far the most horrifying thing I've ever seen. People with such an affliction have a strength I will never know. I would have killed myself a long time ago.
