Actually, you can practice not believing. I know many people who go to Atheism seminars. Atheism is a belief, a belief in nothing.

Agnosticism is more of a not belief.

Actually atheism and agnosticism are more of what you could call outlooks on life, not something you practice. Reading a book on football does not mean sports is your religion.

Now the difference between the two is that atheists do not believe there is anything supernatural, while the agnostics does not know, and keep an open mind, while awaiting more information.

Honestly I've never quite understood the whole science religion war.
From a scientific perspective a deity is a theory,developed by the inductive reasoning of mankind.Which is just as valid as the theory of relativity or the atomic model.Neither of the two are perfect,do a major in any scientific field and you realize just how little we actually know.What it comes down to is that we just don't know.

Finally I'd like to leave you with a quote by Friedrich Nietzsche,sure he was an atheist but it applies to everyone:"Fanatics are picturesque, mankind would rather see gestures than listen to reasons."
