Christine Carter, 28, weighed 275 pounds (124 kg) and spent about $2,000 on food just for herself. She said her binge eating started after she gave up smoking. What pushed her to stop and turn her life around was a family reunion where her own uncle didn’t recognize her because of her dramatic weight gain. It shocked her profoundly and she decided to do something about it.
First, she started with gastric sleeve weight loss surgery, but it didn’t really work as she didn’t take it seriously and continued to eat a lot. She lost about 50 pounds (22 kg) before her weight started to come back.
That’s when it hit her that she should change her lifestyle completely and the best way to do it is to go to the gym. That’s what she did, she even hired a personal trainer. It didn’t take long before the results came. Christine lost 150 pounds (68 kg) in two years and her body has been completely transformed. Her weight loss had also a positive impact on her mind. It helped her to get rid of her controlling boyfriend who wanted her to remain fat, so she wouldn’t leave him. Bummer…
She said: “My ex was very controlling, told me what to wear and I believe he wanted me to be fat so that I wouldn't leave him...
Being overweight, I didn't feel I deserved anything better - I went from a place of being "fat and happy" to just "fat".
"My ex became very insecure and jealous and I gained the confidence to see that I was not in a healthy relationship and needed to get out.”
Well, they say: a sound mind in a sound body and Christine’s case proves it to be true.
Kudos to her on a great job of getting in shape both physically and mentally.
